The Monkey Advisor Story
Long ago, there lived a poet. He always searched for a calm place to compose new poems. One day, he went to a nearby forest to find peace. At one spot, he thought, “This is the best place for me to write poems.” The place was quiet and surrounded by trees full of flowers. So he sat there and began to think.
While he was trying to write, an evil spirit suddenly appeared in anger. The peaceful silence was broken, and the poet was frightened. The devil asked in a fierce voice, “Hey! Who are you?”
The poet was stunned for a while. The spirit’s face was so ugly that he was afraid to look at it. When the devil opened his mouth, fire came out, and his eyes looked like burning balls of fire. Terrified, the poet stammered.
The devil roared again, “How dare you enter my place?” The poet replied, trembling, “I am an innocent poet. I only wanted to write poems in a quiet and calm place, so I came here. I didn’t know this place was yours. I mean no harm. If you give me a little time, I will leave immediately.”
But the devil refused to listen. He cursed, “I won’t excuse you. You made a big mistake. You must be punished. From now on, you will turn into a monkey!”
At once, the poet turned into a grey monkey. The devil laughed and said, “Ha! Now you shall live like this for many years!” Then he vanished.
The monkey poet cried bitterly, but he could do nothing. As he grew hungry, he ate fruits and nuts and slept on the trees like other monkeys. He could no longer talk or write poems.
Days passed as he leapt from tree to tree. One day, he reached the seashore and saw a ship ready to leave. The monkey quickly jumped aboard and moved around on the deck. The passengers shouted in fear, “A monkey! Throw it away!”
One man came forward and threw him into the sea. Some shouted, “Kill it! Kill it!”
Just then, the captain arrived. Seeing the monkey struggling in the water, he stopped them. “No! Don’t harm him. This poor creature looks harmless. I will take care of him.”
The kind captain saved the monkey poet and let him stay quietly in a corner. The monkey caused no trouble. Finally, the ship reached a port — Baghdad.
With a grateful smile, the monkey thanked the captain and leapt onto the shore. As he wandered the streets of Baghdad, he heard news that the king was seeking a wise advisor. Candidates had to write a letter of worthy words, and the best letter would win the post of Chief Advisor.
The monkey poet also wrote a beautiful letter and submitted it. When the king read it, he was deeply impressed and asked to meet the writer. To everyone’s surprise, the monkey poet appeared before the king.
The king looked in wonder and asked, “This poor monkey? Did he really write such a fine letter?”
A minister replied, “Yes, my lord. The letter was written by this monkey.”
The courtiers and the crowd were astonished. “He cannot talk, but how could he write such words?”
The king, curious, gave him paper and a pen. At once, the monkey poet began writing the same letter with great speed. Everyone was amazed. “This is no ordinary monkey!”
The king then called his daughter, a princess with magical powers. She quickly discovered the truth — the monkey was actually a cursed poet. She chanted a mantra and removed the curse.
In moments, the monkey transformed back into his human form. The poet joyfully thanked the princess, and the courtiers cheered loudly.
The king, impressed by his wisdom, appointed the poet as his Chief Advisor. The poet served the king faithfully and loyally for many years.
